Ingredients:
- 75 ml of water
- 1 teaspoon of sugar
- 20g butter
- 55 g all-purpose flour
- replaces the word nice with emptych of salt
- 1 large egg
- Oil for frying (vegetable oil or canola oil)
- Granulated sugar to sprinkle
Instructions:
- Prepare the dough: In a medium saucepan, combine water, sugar and butter. Heat over medium heat until boiling, then remove from heat.
- Add the flour: Add the flour and a pinch of salt, mixing until you have a smooth dough. Return the pan to a low heat for a few seconds, stirring constantly to dry out the dough slightly.
- Incorporate the egg: Remove the pan from the heat and let the dough cool slightly. Add the egg and mix well until completely incorporated, forming a smooth, shiny dough.
- Heat the oil: In a frying pan or saucepan, heat the oil to around 180°C (350°F). The oil should be deep enough to allow the churros to float and fry evenly.
- Shape the churros: Transfer the dough to a piping bag fitted with a large star tip. Pour the dough directly into the hot oil, cutting the dough to the desired length (about 3 to 4 inches) using scissors or a knife.
- Fry the churros: Fry the churros in batches, turning occasionally until golden and crisp, about 2-3 minutes per side.
- Drain and coat: Remove the churros from the oil using a slotted spoon and drain on absorbent paper. While still warm, sprinkle generously with granulated sugar (or a mixture of sugar and cinnamon if you prefer).
Presentation suggestion: Serve the churros warm with your favorite dipping sauce, like melted chocolate, caramel or dulce de leche, for an even more indulgent treat.
Enjoy your crispy and delicious homemade churrosperfect for any occasion!
