  • 5 big potatoes skin removed and sliced into 0.6 inch rounds
  • 2.64 pounds of ground beef
  • 1 chopped onion
  • 3 minced garlic cloves
  • 1 teaspoon of turmeric
  • 2 tablespoons of chopped parsley
  • 0.5 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 teaspoon of freshly ground black pepper
  • 10.6 ounces of chopped spinach
  • 8.45 fluid ounces of cream
  • 5.07 fluid ounces of milk
  • 1 packet (1.76 ounces) of white onion soup powder
  • 1 cup of grated cheddar cheese

Instructions:

  • Preheat oven to 440°F (220°C) and grease a medium-sized round or oval baking dish .
  • Place the sliced potatoes in a medium-sized pot filled with salted water and bring to a boil . Cook for approximately 10 minutes then drain.
  • Fill half of a large pan with water and bring to a boil. Add chopped spinach and boil again for 1 minute. Drain and squeeze out excess water using a colander.
  • While waiting , mix together the ground beef , chopped onion, minced garlic, turmeric, parsley, salt, and peppe r.
  • Divide the mixture into 8 equal portions and roll into round balls .
  • Place a layer of potato slices in the base of the baking dish and around its sides. Add the drained spinach in an even layer on top of the potatoes. Place the meatballs on top. Add another layer of potato slices between the meatballs.
  • Whisk the cream , milk , and white onion soup powder until thickened. Pour over the meatballs and potatoes.
  • Cover the dish with foil and bake for approximately 55 minutes or until the potatoes are tender and the meatballs are fully cooked. Remove the foil, sprinkle with grated cheese, and bake until golden and melted for about 10-15 minutes.
